We are pleased to announce that Affinia Home Care is now the proud recipient of a license from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). Affinia is one of the first agencies to receive a license under the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act (AB1217) which became effective January 1, 2016. Our agency is licensed to provide in-home care services to elderly and disabled individuals.
The following services are provided under this license:
- Personal Care activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, or eating and other assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Homemaking services, such as housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry
Under AB1217, a home care agency must be licensed and all of their caregivers must be registered with the CDSS Home Care Aide Registry, pass a Live Scan fingerprinting/ criminal background check, pass Tuberculosis (TB) screening, undergo extensive training, among other requirements. A licensed agency carries the appropriate insurance, workers compensation policy and employee bonding. A major requirement for licensing states that an agency cannot employ caregivers as independent contractors. It must be an employer/employee relationship.
This means that the agency is responsible for the screening, supervision, scheduling and oversight of the caregivers they place in their client’s homes. The agency is also responsible for paying payroll taxes and complying with all applicable wage and labor regulations.
When selecting home care providers for you or your loved one, it is important to look for a licensed agency for your protection and peace of mind.
The licensing process was a very long journey and we are proud of our accomplishment and our team of caregivers who make Affinia Home Care a special place to work. This is true validation of the quality of care Affinia provides. Please feel free to call us at (949) 505-2585 or visit www.affiniahomecare.com for additional information.
